No, Piers Morgan didn’t tweet a porn link last night

Did Piers Morgan tweet a link to a porn website?
This tweet and its accompanying photo have been doing the rounds.

It’s a fake, in fact it’s a terrible fake. Here’s how we know.
1. It’s missing the verification tick
fake4
Piers has had a blue tick against his name for ages. The fact that the screengrab misses his out should be enough for anyone to cry fake.
2. The delete button
fake5
Why would Twitter let you delete a tweet that wasn’t your own?
3. ‘Via Twitter’
fake6
Twitter hasn’t been openly showing users where tweets came from since August 2012.
4. This is becoming a regular thing
fake3
This particularly bad example still has the text box where you enter the username you want to fake tweets from selected.
5. I could have done a better job
fake8
Faking tweets is really easy. If you’re going to do it at least make them look convincing.
Case closed.
